Gender inequality is everywhere-even in the lucky western society. If, you, like us three, are lucky enough to live in a western society, think about the advertising, have you ever seen a commercial where a man has done the cooking and cleaning? To be honest, I have only ever seen one, but think of it this way- commercials come and go, we have all seen a million of them (without even exaggerating...) and out of all these commericials, only one shows a man working and contributing to the house, does anybody else have a major porblem with this as I do? How can we all accomplish one of the eight goals that the united nations set when even the privillaged society will not change? Will this be possible? Because in our, apparently, 'progeressive society' there are still strong examples of gender inequality, how can we lead the world if we can't even have fairness in our society?
I really don't have an answer to that, maybe a politican does, and will make a promise that they won't make... like our nations politicians.

Did you know that it is thought that one in three girls are likely to be involved in violence just because they are girls? How about that two thirds of children that don't go to school are girls? Or that even in the United Nations, only thirty percent of the delegates are female? Is anyone else seeing a very common occurance? Although is does seem like in the past sixty years or so, there is still major differences between men and woman, and why? To be honest, we don't know why. Is it fair to question to ourselves will the world ever change? Will it ever improve? Or are we just expecting to much? I don't think so, but others probably do.
Re-reading this, you probably expect me, writer #1 to be a full out femenist. I'm not, but I consider myself to be a little bit of one. I don't think our expectations are that high. Besides, we are not just thinking of ourselves, our hopes that no girl would have to sacrifice her education to provide for her famly. That no girl is killed for 'bringing shame to her family.' That no man ever raises a hand against a woman, gender inequality is more common that you probably think, but look around carefully in our western society, if you look closely, while there are improvements, we still have a long way to go.

What if we were boys? What if?

Hey...
So, going on the theme of Beyonce's song 'if I were a boy' recently got me thinking....what if girls were boys? Obviously, the human race would pretty much die, but besides that...what if there were no such thing as girls? What would happen?
Here are my thoughts...if we did the whole typical thing, which means that girls would be cleaning and cooking, who would be cooking and cleaning? From my personal experience, I have not seen many men who can cook and clean...and if I think about it, men would die out, assuming that evolution does not help enough and men cannot adjust to this, hygenie would be one of the causes of death, then starvation, or food posioning, because the meatwas not cooked enough. I am basically going on assumptions here in the caveman period. But if we go through time and men somehow survived, I guess there would be a lot less money because only men exist, and only men are working, so there would be more money to give (yep, women are STILL being paid less then men, even just a few cents an hour would make a major difference) there would be a lot more violence, because recent reports show that there is a huge amount of men in prison, and barely any women (pretty much hundred compared to hundreds of thousands) So, there would be chaos and deaths, and of course men complaining about how hard life is. Women go through quite a lot, and still do all they do, jobs around the house, working full time and taking care of the kids while the man just sits on his butt and talksabout how hard his day was, all the hard work he had to do, all while the full-time business woman cooks a meal. This is stero-typical, and this needs to stop, as the thought that I could have this life...well, it makes me think....what if that happens to me? It was not the future I saw myself having when I was a little girl, dreaming about a marriage and children.
And I'm the lucky girl in the world; I was bought up in a well-off academic family in a western society, who strongly believe in gender equality... but there is still that possibilty... what if I am expected to do all the housework? And I have so much better off than hundred of millions, even perhaps billions, of girls who have it so much more worse, I can't imagine having their lives, the discrimination that they feel in their lives everyday.

Hello and bonjour. This is writer #1, I just would like to update. Dancer is definatly doing Beyonce's awesome song, 'if I were a boy', which is of course perfect for this. If you are a rarity, and have not heard this song, don't worry, we may put the lyrics up in a few days, would love your opinions on this guys :)
So... besides the dancing, how is this project going, I hear you ask? Well, I am writing the blog as usual, (can we all just forget that this is only my second post?) Writer #2 is currently researching facts about inequality between genders, which, of course, we will also put up soon.
We would just like the add the amount of people reading this, it's much more than I personally expected, so thanks guys :) (ignore this oh-so proffersional emoticon).
So, this is basically an update- I will get to the real stuff very soon...

Dancer's first post.

Hi peeps :) Dancer here,
Just a little update on how we are going. I am doing a dance for this project to 'If I Were A Boy' by Beyonce. I haven't started it yet so if any of you have any suggestions for another song i will be glad to hear from you. I like anything that's deep and has a massive amount of emotion in the way it's sung. It needs to have an obvious relation to gender equality.

Thanks,
Dancer <3

Dancers and Writers who want gender equality....

Hello. Bonjour. Hallo. Hola. Lorem. Whatever floats your boat. Bottom line is welcome... we are group of teenage girls who live our passions, writing and dancing, and are inspired to change the world in anyway possible. We are starting this blog as we work on a project to promote this in a way that we choose, as one of us dances and others write. For our privacy, and at this point in time, we will not reveal our names. But you can call us Writer #1, Writer #2 and Dancer .We just want to world to know what we are doing, and why. Gender inequality still exisits, even in our western society, and we want it stopped. We don't want any countries where women cannot drive, we don't want any women to get paid less than a man, we don't want a world where a woman cannot get an education. We don't any of this- we want to stop it. So wherever you are in the world, if anyone is reading at all, please, watch us as we work on our project, and do our part to make the world better for every girl.
Love,
Dancers and Writers.
